In the recent past, the debate about human sanctity has generated mixed reactions. The increased war of attritions across the globe has compromised not only the sanctity of life but also the need to seek divine expiation.
As Professor of Church History, I have been studying the science around comparative history of cultures and societies past and present, and the outcome is disappointing. There is a huge disconnect and moving forward, the future is bleaker.
I am not a prophet of doom. However, in retrospect, life in the 70s, 80s and 90s was simply gorgeous and adorable. To believe we are scaling up is a wishful thinking, today, the admixture of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation seems to be changing lifestyles in the negative.
Every single day we experience nepotism in the workplace, political appointments and awarding of presidential medals to loyalties rather than merits. Corruption and misappropriation of money meant to alleviate poverty. Wars and rumors of war locally and abroad, and strange diseases amongst other adversities.h
Churches meant to be houses of refuge have turned out to be what I call “Havens of spiritual terrorism”. Empirical evidence of congregants dubbed into planting “seeds” that don’t germinate, taking poisonous substances for healing that end up killing the gullible flock.
Add to that the myriad false prophecies that never came to pass, An appalling Apostasy that has replaced Christ, and the survival theatrics on pulpits in the name of worship l. All these depict a decaying world and a near end of Church era.
What Does The Bible Say?
The Bible is replete with details of the nature and destiny of these malefactors.
Apostle Paul told the Church: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
“They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth.
“They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.” II Tim.3:1-9.
I am not trying to portray myself as a prophet, for I am not one by divine calling for that office. But from the Scriptures, I can affirm without fear or doubt that these are the last days. Paul did not know that in the 21st century all the above would be happening in the glare of our eyes, but God used him to pen down such a huge prophetic utterance.
If you desire to experience God and His power in your life, disassociate yourself from bad characters. The Bible says of these dangerous apostates, that if they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. II Pet 2:20.
James 1:4-5 says, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Evil doers will not change. The Bible says, “but you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors. See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts instead of obeying Me. While evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. Jer.16:12; II Tim 3:13.
The world will not reform or become a better place than it is now. For those who are waiting for this world to be better and praying for it to be better I would say pray for yourselves to be found ready when the trumpet sounds.
Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal,” Matt 6:19-20.
The great Apostle said this. “Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal,” II Cor.4:16-18.
God is not an aggrandizer! We are compassed with biblical texts that are testimonies of His proactiveness on this planet earth. No one will have excuse that they didn’t know this fact, and this gives us all the reasons to soldier on. For those who think the world is getting better to be enjoyed the world will continually enjoy them!
Lastly, God has given us discretion: “Then he told me, Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile. Let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.” Rev 22:10-11.
