Repentance is a word that has been widely used and misused in equal measure, especially in religious circles. It is should be noted though, tthat it is really a simple term that can bring enormous influence to our character for a divine change.

Repentance works from both the horizontal and vertical. Some religious people tag it on their massages in a negative way. But repentance is our way of returning to God.

Repentance covers both our emotions and our spirits. God’s forgiving love is experienced in us as we spread it wide to others horizontally through repentance and forgiveness. If both feel no effect of it, then it is not repentance. It becomes empty words with remote remorse loosely conveyed by a hypocritical vender

Repentance is now. God has officially called for it. John the Baptist preached it and so the apostles. When they preached on repentance, they always stressed on the NOW.

Matthew 3:2, “And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Read Acts 2:38; 3:19; 8:22; 17:30; 26:20

REPENTANCE NECESSITATES RESTITUTION

Repentance without restitution is like praising a tree which bears no fruit, because it is the fruit that tells the type of a tree. Fruit is the indicator that God has forgiven us, so we forgive others also and restitute at the same time. Zeccheus is the best example.

LUKE 19:8, “And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I RESTORE HIM FOURFOLD.”

GENUINE NATIONAL REPENTANCE BRINGS PEACE WITH GOD

When we repent, we have peace with God and He save us from any sin. When both the clergy and politicians calls for prayers, the real theme should be either genuine repentance or thanksgiving. The officiating minister(s) must command that these things be followed and done

National prayer which is accepted by God is the one where those prayers of repentance and thanks-giving is done right. Repentance is not outlaying visions or policies of a political party but speaking out the mind of God to the left and right wingers, calling for peace and reconciliation. It is correcting historical justices both done to God and humanity.

National thanksgiving is also dealing with history of what God has done for a nation, thanking Him for yesterday and the broad aspect of life, fulfilled endeavors, purpose and dreams and giving Him his due honor in terms of love and service. National repentance must be followed with restitution as much as possible on that platform [of resources misused, looted or previously mismanaged.]

POLITICIANS AND GOVTS TODAY HAVE A WRONG VIEW OF THE CHURCH

Many countries today see the Churches as campanies that make money rather than making souls to be good citizens of a nation. The Church plays a more [or equally] important role than political parties.

Every election year, politicians through their affiliates parties indoctrinate and proselite the youths, producing hooligans. Church remains to be the best place where the youths get life through preaching, schooling in all levels. Parties runs none of these.

When churches are duly recognized as real stakeholders in a nation political and socio development spheres, that nation prospers. European countries, especially England and Germany were lovers of religion and embraced Christianity many years ago.

United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain, to name a few, sponsored missionaries to the unknown and known locations all over the world. That is how they conquered new places and kingdoms for their own good because they carried the name of God with them.

Church missionary society and missionary sending agencies were sponsored by European and American governments and Church irrespective of denomination or racial orientation. Todate, in Israel, orthodox Rabbis are paid from the general treasury. You can just see and how this some country thrives in everything because God is in everything they do.

Even though colonialism was not that good, the colonialists made God a stakeholder so they succeeded where the Chinese and Arabs failed. As soon as these once godly nations felt that Christianity is a bother, the glory also plunged into a deep sea together with kingdom ideologies. It was then that democracy found a breeding place in a new found land called America.

RISE OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

America has been a great supporter of Christisnity. All over the world, millions are going to school, feeding and achieving a lot through America. Thid is because in the American system, God is a share holder. Churches and other types of philanthropic works done to humanity is exempted from taxes.

Whenever America is shaken, there is a negative impact around the world. The mood in America as at now is REPENTANCE. In other words, repentance mode is activated: America back to God. The American thanksgiving begins from the head to toe. From White House to common house. America gave millions of Jews a welcoming hand when Europe rejected them.

I wonder which words countries like Kenya tells God when their leaders call for national prayer. Did they repent about removing God in their budget by denying God His due honor while political parties get heavy reward running into millions, plus nominations to parliament with every being represented except God.

In Kenya today, donations that go to the house of God are disparaged, mocked and their source questioned. The government pays a yearly percentage to political parties with no apologies to tax payers but gives none to God.

The same government who looks for God’s intervention that needed for solutions in regardsl to these catastrophic phenomena, will not be answered until genuine repentance is done. That genuine repentance must be followed by restitution where possible.

How can the same people who are bitter with each other, betray each other, steal from each other pray and expect God to answer them? such prayers go unanswered because they are done without reconciliation to each other and forgive each other FIRST

President Magufuli of Tanzania recognized and reckon that that true protector and life giver at a time like this is God. I have heard him asking people to forgive him for anything he did that had offended anybody. To me that is cool for a president

For the first time in history, an Italian leader confessed that looking up on the sky is where the current pandemic could end not on the holy grail and reciting endless prayers to the forever virgin Mary.

China has completely refused to call Buddha on a meeting at such a time as this because ideology and philosophy are the main rivals and opponents of repentance. Budha and any other known man-god deals with the mind. They argue that even bacteria and virus need a place to live in so just learn to live with their demands in your body. They could be god’s massagers for translation to another life hence reincarnation.

Repentance means utter and radical change of spirit and soul for good and with no coercion. But the latter teaches otherwise. Repentance means a complete turn around. You cannot keep on driving on the same direction after realizing that you are actually lost. The best thing to do in such a situation is to take a U-turn and drive on the other side. That is repentance – a complete change of direction.

Today I repent for all my known and unknown in Jesus name. God forgive me and save us. Somebody join me on for repentance and prayers for our nation.
